The construction and demolition industry annually produces three times the amount of waste generated by all UK households combined. Site Waste Management Plans allow better waste management practices, help to reduce the amount of waste produced and identify best environmental disposal options. Implementing a Site Waste Management Plan (SWMP) can reduce costs (increasing business profits) and maximise resource efficiency.
Do I need a Site Waste Management Plan? The SWMP Code of Practice was launched on 8th July 2004 to help the construction industry face the major challenge of changes in waste management legislation. Since 6th April 2008 it has been mandatory for all sites or projects with an estimated cost over £300,000 (ex VAT) to have a site waste management plan in place.
We can work with you to assess risks and produce cost-effective solutions for all developments producing a realistic plan ensuring your
construction waste is managed as effectively as possible implementing a SWMP that complies with the current Code of Practice, to:
- Improve your resource efficiency
- Decrease project costs
- Improve re-use and recycling rates
- Reduce site accidents
- Guarantee compliance with future legislation
- Protect construction programme
We will carry out a full waste audit to develop a SWMP that includes advice on how to reduce waste and identify best disposal routes.
